More Pine Cones

22 January 2015

One of the reasons why I bought my macro lense was to get some close up shots of my pine cone collection. My China fir cone was explored on Flickr, but I was actually not super happy with the result. I just wanted to post a picture with my new lens.

Here are a couple of pine cone shots I really like. Once is a Japanese larch cone. I likeit because it looks like a woody flower. There are about 8 bazillion flower macros on the internet, so I tried to take some nice shots of interesting cones. The other is from a Douglas fir. Douglas firs are very easy pine cones to pick out of a group. They are the only pine cones that have little sprues that come out from between the cone scales. When t hey dry, they look almost like shredding blades. I hope you enjoy these photos.
