Vacation in Arizona
Earlier this month, my wife and I visited Arizona. She wanted to run a trail race, visit her aunt and uncle, and I wanted to visit Petrified Forest National Park. My favorite part of the trip was definitely going to Petrified Forest National Park. The park was very desolate and the stripes in the buttes and mesas gave the park an other worldly feel. True to its name, there was petrified wood everywhere. As the soil and softer rocks around the wood erodes, it emerges from the ground. Even some parts of the unpaved trails had petrified wooding sticking out of them.
The Sonoran desert looked like a green oasis compared to Petrified forest national park. It was still dusty and beige in the desert, but there was a surprising amount of greenery between cacti, bushes, and grasses.
